Wigan Sports Club General Committee
Wigan Sports Club is managed through the General Committee consisting of Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, Trustees, Chair of Cricket, Chair of Men's Hocky, Chair of Ladies Hockey, Chair of Squash. These posts plus any co-opted members have the right to vote at meetings of the General Committee.
The General Committee is convened by the Secretary of the Club and is held no less than six times per year. At all Committee meetings, the Chairman has a second or casting vote in the event of an equality of votes.
The quorum required for business to be agreed at the General Committee meetings is 40%. The Treasurer presents to the General Committee income and expenditure accounts four times per year. The General Committee are responsible for adopting new policy, codes of conduct and rules that affect the organisation of the Club.
The General Committee have the power to appoint and dismiss servants of the club as they deem necessary and any such sevants shall receive orders from the General Committee and not from individual members. Any member having a complaint against a club servant must notify the General Committee by informing the Secretary in writing.
The General Committee is responsible for disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the club rules/regulations/constitution. The General Committee is responsible for taking any action of suspension or discipline following such hearings.
